Where and How Do I Vote in the Presidential Election Today in Idaho
The day is here and it’s time to get out and vote. In Idaho, you’ll be voting for the next President of the United States, Congress, Idaho State Legislator, a proposed constitutional amendment that would require residency to vote, Proposition 1, and local offices and levies.
What is on the 2024 Ballot in Idaho
Depending on where you live in Idaho, you’ll see different boxes to check on your ballot, but we’ll all be voting for the President and Vice President, Proposition 1, and the Idaho Constitutional Amendment.
Donald Trump as a Republican and Kamala Harris as a Democrat have been at the forefront of presidential candidate news, but your Idaho ballot will also include options for a Libertarian, Constitution, and 5 Independent candidates. Each candidate on the ballot includes their VP candidate name and Presidential Electors.
The Idaho Constitutional Amendment ballot measure is a request that ‘only Idaho residents who are citizens of the United States are eligible to vote in elections in the state of Idaho and that noncitizens are not eligible to vote in any election in the state of Idaho.’ Additional information is listed on the ballot.
Proposition 1 is another ballot measure you will vote on. Prop 1 aims to ‘replace voter selection of party nominees with a top-four primary’ and ‘require a ranked-choice voting system for general elections.’ The ballot measure would make 2 distinct changes to elections by ending party primaries and opening general elections to ranked-choice voting where voters can choose one or more candidates in order of preference. Votes are counted in successive rounds where ‘the candidate receiving the fewest votes in each round is eliminated. A vote for an eliminated candidate will transfer to the voter’s next-highest-ranked active candidate. The candidate with the most votes in the final round wins.’ Additional details will be listed on your ballot.
