I've always thought WILLIE NELSON'S pot bust last year in Texas was nonsense, and this pretty much proves it.  There's talk that Willie will be able to get off with just a small fine... if he agrees to sing a song in court.  Seriously!?  I smell the beginning of a new Court Reality show!

--According to TMZ, the prosecutor is willing to let Willie off with only a $100 fine if he sings his classic "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain" from INSIDE the courtroom.  He says the song would count as Willie's community service.

--No word if Willie's down with the offer . . . but he'd be foolish to say no.  If he's convicted, he's looking at 180 days in jail AND a $2,000 fine.  Of course, the final decision will be up to the judge.

UPDATE

Yesterday we got all excited because the prosecutor in WILLIE NELSON'S silly Texas drug bust . . . was offering to let him off with a mere $100 fine if he would perform a song in the courtroom.

--Well, sadly, the judge who will rule in the case isn't down with that idea.

--Judge Becky Dean-Walker told the "Big Bend Sentinel" newspaper, quote, "Just because he's a star, I don't think he should receive any special treatment.  I believe everybody should be treated the same."

--Truth is, even if Willie IS treated like everyone else, he's still likely to get off easy.  The judge also said, quote, "It might very well be a $100 fine and $278 in court costs, but I'm the one who signs off on that."

--Those aren't arbitrary numbers.  According to the "Sentinel", that's a typical fine for a border crossing pot case in that area of Texas.  You plead guilty and then mail a check covering the fine, which is usually $100, plus the $278 in court costs.--The good news is that the judge says Willie won't have to appear in court, and can plead by mail.

--By the way, Willie is wisely keeping his mouth while all this gets sorted out.  And his publicist offered "no comment."
