Artist Creates Beautiful Portraits From Wine Stains [IMAGES]

Typically, we’d cry in horror at the thought of spilling red wine on anything, fearing the permanent red blotch it will leave on most surfaces. Instead, we’re loving artist Amelia Harnas’ clever use of wine stains and embroidery to make abstract portraits.

Harnas layers stains on top of each other and uses various brands of wine to tease out different shades of red. Embroidery and wax are used to reinforce the design.
