Looks like technology is going to bite us in the butt again. A settlement reached between card issuers and merchants means that stores in Idaho (and most other states with the exception of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Kansas, Maine, Massachusetts, New York, Oklahoma and Texas) could start charging you a "checkout fee" when you pay for something with plastic. Which means for many of us who haven't held a dollar or any sort of cash in months - we may be paying more for our purchases than others.

It won't be a ton of extra money...depending on your spending habits. The retailer can only charge enough to cover the processing costs, which is about 1.5 percent to 3 percent of the total purchase, but it still seems wrong. How do you feel about the card fees?
