Early this week, police in Boise reported that they were investigating a fatal shooting that had happened on Christmas Day.

Police Investigating Fatal Shooting on Christmas Day in Idaho

The shooting was reported on the City of Boise website on December 26th. It states that the Boise Police responded to the report of a shooting at about 7:30 in the evening of December 25th, 2023 to the 8000 block of W. Pomona Court. The rest of the report states:

Upon arrival, officers located one adult male victim and began providing emergency medical care and securing the scene. Ada County Paramedics rushed the victim to a local hospital but he passed away later that night. Detectives from the Boise Police Violent Crime Unit and BPD’s Crime Lab responded to the scene. A preliminary investigation shows that several people were involved in a domestic dispute inside the house before the shooting. Detectives are in contact with all involved parties and there is no threat to the public. BPD is working closely with the Ada County Prosecutors Office and the investigation is ongoing.

More information will be released when available and the identity of the victim will be determined by the Ada County Coroner after notification of next of kin.

Shooting Reported in Jerome After Christmas

A separate domestic incident where a man was shot and also stabbed was reported in Jerome the day after Christmas. The incident happened in the area around 750 E and 225 N. The report states that Marvin Lamm was stabbed in the chest and stomach and shot in the head. Brandalyn Maglaughlin was taken into custody at the scene and charged with 5 separate felony counts.

KMVT reports that Maglaughlin failed to report to her arraignment due to mental issues and a competency evaluation was requested by the prosecutor.
