NAMPA, Idaho (KTVB) -- A Boise woman accused of posting a partially nude photo of a friend online has been charged with a felony under a law intended to curb "revenge porn." Linda Silva, 43, was arrested Saturday.

Police say she posted a photo of the topless acquaintance on Craigslist along with a warning to avoid the woman. The victim, a Nampa woman, had previously sent the photo to Silva by text, but the defendant put it online without her consent, Nampa Police Sgt. Joe Ramirez said.

Silva has been charged with felony video voyeurism under a statute that was expanded by the Legislature in 2013 to include publicizing explicit photos of someone with the intent to harass or humiliate that person.

Ramirez said the changes to the law were crafted in response to the "revenge porn" phenomenon, in which a jilted ex puts sexual photos or videos of their former partner online after a breakup. The law went into effect in 2014.
