With just a few days before Thanksgiving, public health officials are urging people to take precautions when preparing their holiday meals in an effort to keep their families safe from food-borne illnesses.
The peak period where most cases of infection occur is late June through September, with one in 150 infected persons developing severe illness, according to the department's data.
