TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX) – If Twin Falls City Park looks a little crowded this weekend, there’s a good reason for it.

Art in the Park kicks off today at 5 p.m. The event continues Saturday.

Caroline White, executive director of Magic Valley Arts Council, was at the park Friday afternoon helping to set up. It was a warm day, but thank goodness for the shade trees.

“We’re all set up, we’re done,” she said, noting now they’re just waiting for the event to kick off this evening. “I think this is going to be fun.”

The event, which has been hosted in one form or another for the past 50 or so years, she said, was once under the banner of the Twin Falls Art Guild; but this year the baton was passed to White’s organization.

It also is the 25th year for Kids Art in the Park, which will be celebrated Saturday when 300 young people, ages 3 to 14, will participate in arts and crafts. Afterward, they’ll be treated to a hot dog lunch and ice cream.

Not many spaces are left, but White said if parents come to the park by 8:30 a.m. Saturday, she'll try to fit in some additional kids at the event.

Nineteen booths are set up by Magic Valley artisans with all forms of artwork on display, including paintings, photos, pottery, and sculptures. Live entertainment and wine tasting also is planned.

“It’s pretty fun to see the park so full and vibrant,” White said.
