Check Out These Videos of the Friday Morning Fireball in Idaho and Washington

A massive blue fireball lit up the sky across Washington, Oregon, and Idaho on Friday morning. The scene was caught on dozens of home cameras and vehicle dashcams, showing the light streak across the sky.

The fireball was a meteor and coincided with the most active meteor shower of the year, the annual Perseid meteor shower, which is happening now through August 29th.

Dozens of Videos Show Massive Fireball Streak Across Washington and Idaho Friday

The meteor was seen in the sky, according to news reports and witness accounts, between 12:45 and 12:50 (most video timestamps seem to have it happening at 12:48AM) on Friday morning. We weren’t able to find any reports of the meteor reaching the ground before completely burning up. We gathered some of the best videos of the fireball from across Idaho and Washington, and you can check them out below.

This one doesn’t show the color, but it does show how long the fireball lasted.
