Open House Tours of the Burley LDS Temple Have Begun in Southern Idaho
Open house tours of the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints temple in Burley began this week. Tours are free and available daily, except Sundays, through November 22nd, 2025. Reservations are not required to enter the temple during open house hours.
During open house tours, visitors will be shown through the temple and given explanations about what happens in the temple rooms and given the opportunity to learn about the Latter-day Saint belief in Jesus Christ as a savior of the world.

There is no requirement to be of any particular faith or the dress a certain way when attending the open house. There is also no requirement or obligation to join the church or take any classes to learn it’s teachings. The open house is simply a way that all residents in the community or surrounding areas can see and learn about the temple building and what happens inside.
Once the open house has finished, the temple will close for a short time before being dedicated in January. After the dedication ceremony on January 11th, 2026, only members with valid recommends will be allowed inside.
Areas in the temple include the sealing room, celestial room, baptism font, and other ordinance rooms where members of the church make promises to God that they will follow the example of Jesus Christ in their thoughts and actions at an elevated level than before they entered the temple.
It’s easy to focus on the architecture and beauty of the temple, but tours will help visitors focus on why the temple is so important. Visitors during the open house will learn about the ceremonies that happen in the temple and how Jesus Christ is at the center of everything that happens inside.
The new temple in Burley is important to members in the area as it provides a closer option for them to worship and participate in temple work. Previously, many members would travel to the Twin Falls temple to receive the blessings found there.
The Burley temple was announced by the prophet Russell M. Nelson in a General Conference meeting in April of 2021. Ground was broken in June of 2022. The temple is 45,300 square feet and sits on 10.12 acres.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has 382 temples around the world that are either operating, under construction, or announced. The Burley temple will be the 212th temple in operation and the first dedicated in 2026.
LDS temples around the world are usually unique in construction design and incorporate colors and themes from the surrounding area. The Burley temple incorporates potato blossom designs and local farmland and agriculture colors of blue, gold, peach, cream, and green.
