Woman From Washington State Killed in Idaho Crash With Semi Truck

Idaho State Police have begun investigating a fatal accident between an SUV and a semi-truck.

ISP stated that the accident happened around 11:23 AM on May 15th, 2024 - which we expect to be corrected soon as that is tomorrow’s date - on US95 near mile marker 379, south of Coeur d’Alene in Benewah County. The police report states the following:

A 45-year-old female from Pullman Washington driving a grey 2019 Ford Escape was involved in a head-on collision with a 31-year-old male from Toledo Ohio driving a 2020 Volvo Tractor Trailer. The driver and sole occupant of the Ford Escape was critically injured and died at the scene.
The driver and sole occupant of the Volvo Tractor sustained critical injuries and was transported by air ambulance to a local hospital. The Benewah County Coroner's Office will release the decedent's identity and determine the cause and manner of death.

The road was closed in both directions for around 4 hours while crews took care of the scene. The road was then reopened with a single lane of travel.

According to Idaho 511, as of 5:30 PM today, the road is still closed in both directions. This could be a separate accident or another one in the same area. Idaho 511 has the start time of the current closure at 12:39 PM today.

They also show US95 being closed south of the initial accident at SH6 all the way up to SH60. This section shows the northbound lane is open and they are using alternating traffic, so delays should be expected by drivers in the area.
