
Fatal Train vs Car and Car vs Pedestrian Accidents Reported in Idaho
Over the long holiday weekend, the Idaho State Police reported three serious accidents on Idaho roads. Two of the crashes were fatal, and the third sent a driver to the hospital.
Compromised road conditions are believed to be a factor in the injury accident. The fatal accidents involved pickup trucks, one of which hit a train, and the other struck a pedestrian.
Two Fatal Accidents Reported in Idaho Over the Weekend
The fatal accidents happened on December 27th and 28th and are detailed below.
ISP shared a news release regarding a fatal accident in Southern Idaho, where a man walking on the highway was struck and killed by a truck. The accident happened on December 27th, about 20 minutes after midnight on State Highway 24 at 300 West in Minidoka County. The report states:
- A 32-year-old female from Fairfield, Idaho, was traveling eastbound on 300 South in a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup.
- As the female approached SH24, she struck a 30-year-old male from Spring Creek, Nevada, that was walking in the road.
The male pedestrian passed away at the scene of the crash.
Driver Killed in Truck vs Train Accident in Northern Idaho
The second fatal accident involved a pickup truck and a freight train in Northern Idaho. The crash happened around 2 PM on December 28th near Sandpoint at the intersection of West Selle Road and North Boyer Road. In the ISP report, it states:
- A 63-year-old-male, from Sandpoint, Idaho, was travelling westbound on West Selle Road in a white 2008 Nissan Titan when he struck a northbound moving Burlington Northern Santa Fe train.
- As a result of the crash, the Nissan Titan was pushed a short distance off the roadway.
The driver of the truck was not wearing a seatbelt and passed away at the scene of the accident.
