
Monday Morning Fatal Highway Accident: Semi Truck vs Pedestrian
Idaho State Police responded to a tragic fatal accident between a pedestrian and a semi-truck on a Southern Idaho highway near the Utah border.
Police believe the pedestrian had been driving and exited his vehicle after crashing. He was then struck by the truck.
A Pedestrian Was Struck and Killed by a Semi-Truck on an Idaho Highway on Monday Morning
The accident happened early Monday morning, August 25th, at 3:35, in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 84 near mile marker 234.
In the ISP report, it states:
- A 22-year-old male, from Rupert, was traveling westbound on the eastbound shoulder in a 1999 Chrysler 300. He then crashed, exited his vehicle, and stood in the eastbound lanes of travel.
- A 30-year-old male, from Saratoga Springs, UT, was traveling eastbound in a 2023 Freightliner Semi Truck.
The semi-truck hit the pedestrian on the highway. The pedestrian passed away at the scene of the accident. The driver of the truck was not injured in the accident.
The crash blocked eastbound travel for about 5 hours and is being investigated by the Idaho State Police.

Idaho State Police reported responses to two other serious accidents in Idaho over the weekend. One accident involved a motorcycle driver in Nampa who lost control, crashed, and received critical injuries.
The other accident was a vehicle fire in Benehwah County. The police report doesn’t say if there was an accident prior to the vehicle catching fire or what type of vehicle it was.
The report does say that the 60-year-old male driver was taken by life-flight with serious injuries to a local hospital. A juvenile passenger died at the scene, and a second juvenile passenger was released without injuries to a responsible adult.
All accidents mentioned in this story are under investigation by ISP.
