We are currently in National Fire Prevention week, an event that happens every year since 1922 in memory of the Great Chicago Fire. During the week families are encouraged to practice their fire escape plan in their home. If your family doesn't have a current safety plan, you can get suggestions on how to implement one in your home on the fire safety website. To help encourage the community to become fire safety aware, the Twin Falls Fire Department is holding a free event tonight at Fire Station 1 located at 345 Second Avenue East in Twin Falls.

Along with information on fire safety they'll also be doing tours of the fire station, blood pressure checks, and Sparky the fire dog will be there. The event is free and also includes free pizza, cookies, yogurt, and you can sign up to get free smoke detectors installed in your house. The National Fire Prevention website also has fun activities for kids to print off including coloring sheets and a word search.
