(KLIX) – The public is invited to comment on a proposed rule by the Idaho Department of Fish and Game that changes the legal methods of take for trapping wolves.

“Under the proposed changes,” according to Fish and Game, “diverters for wolf snares would no longer be required, but all wolf snares would need both a break-away device and a cable stop incorporated within the loop of the snare.”

The department said that current rules require either a break-away device or a cable stop in addition to diverters.

The rule change would allow Fish and Game Commission to require diverters on a local basis, rather than statewide, based on certain criteria.

The deadline to submit comments is Oct. 23. Written comments about the proposed rule change should be directed to:
