George Harrison’s Childhood Home Up for Auction
Being the lucky bidder on a rare album signed by all four Beatles is one thing, but how cool would it be to live in George Harrison's old house?
One new homeowner will become a part of Fab Four history later this month, when Harrison's childhood abode is scheduled to change hands as part of an auction scheduled to take place Oct. 20 at the Cavern Club, the Liverpool nightclub where the Beatles performed a number of early gigs. According to ABC Radio News, it's expected to go for somewhere around $161,000 -- not a bad price for the privilege of knowing you're laying your hat in the same spot where a rock legend was formed.
The Liverpool Echo offers a more in-depth look at Harrison's connection to the property, a three-bedroom house located at 25 Upton Green in Liverpool. The Harrison family moved there in 1949, when George was six, and stayed until the early '60s -- a time span that included Harrison meeting Paul McCartney and John Lennon, joining their band the Quarrymen and building on that musical bond through countless rehearsals, many of which took place at the Harrison home.
