The Idaho State Police and the Idaho Transportation Department reported a highway accident in a Southern Idaho construction zone. The accident involved a semi-truck that had hit a cement barrier and blocked traffic for hours.

Construction crews in the area were able to create a temporary emergency lane to help traffic move through the area while first responders worked the scene.

Southern Idaho Highway Semi Truck Accident in Construction Zone Near Burley

The accident happened just before noon on April 14th on Interstate 84 in Heyburn at the 211 mile marker. Pictures from the scene of the accident were shared by the Idaho Transportation Department and can be seen below. The Idaho State Police shared this information about the crash:

A 1995 Freightliner, driven by a 33-year-old male from Jerome, Idaho was traveling eastbound on I84 near mile marker 211 in the construction zone when he struck a concrete barrier blocking the eastbound lane of travel.

The truck driver was not wearing a seatbelt and was not injured in the accident. The Idaho Transportation Department shared these pictures on social media of the accident.

The construction in that area of I84 is expected to last into November or December of this year (2026).
