With winter weather coming at us strong over the next few days and snow and freeze warnings issued across the state, some places have already been hit with a blanket of snow.

But, they aren't where you would expect.

Where in Idaho is Already Covered in Snow

When I went looking for snow today, the first places I looked were in Northern Idaho and the ski resort areas. I was surprised to see them full of color. While looking through the cameras on Idaho 511, I found 2 locations with alerts due to the weather that had snow on the ground.

There are more than a dozen traffic cams with freezing alerts, but these 2 are the only ones with a white blanket of snow right now. That could all change over the next few hours though as a chance of snow if forecasted in many areas.

One of the locations is right on the border of Idaho and Montana (you can even see the Welcome to Idaho sign in the picture) on Highway 93 at the Lost Trails Pass.

The other location is the Johnson Creek Airstrip camera.

It's interesting that the ski resort areas are still without snow. Sun Valley just posted a few very colorful Fall photos of the area and the latest from Tamarack shows a lot of white on the road, but it was from the sheep parade in Donnelly.
