A man from Pocatello has been arrested after multiple threatening phone calls were made to a property management company and a building at the Idaho State Capitol.

Idaho Man Arrested Following Capitol Building Bomb Threat
The Idaho State Police announced the arrest of a 58-year-old male in a news release on October 17th, 2025. The threats were made in phone calls on the morning of October 8th, 2025. The initial threatening calls were made to a property management company in Pocatello around 10:14 AM. The man made multiple threatening calls to employees and threatened ‘to blow them up’.
About 20 minutes later, calls were made from the same phone number to the LBJ Building in the Idaho State Capitol complex. The man claimed there was a bomb at the building, which prompted the evacuation of the Capitol.

Later that morning, police in Pocatello identified the caller and placed him in custody. An investigation, using audio from the recorded calls matched to the man in custody, proved that the man who made the calls to the Pocatello property management company was the same man who threatened the Capitol staff.
The man was arrested and booked with probable cause for felony false reports of explosives in public or private spaces. His identity was not shared in the news release.
No explosives were found during the investigation and search of the Capitol. The investigation is ongoing, and the man is considered innocent until proven guilty.
