Over the weekend and into Monday, the Idaho State Police reported five serious accidents on Idaho highways. The accidents resulted in at least eight people being injured, some of whom are now in critical condition.

Miraculously, there were no fatalities reported in any of the accidents. There will be updates to the reports as the investigations progress, and you can read the summaries of the accidents below.

The Idaho State Police Reported 5 Accidents with 8 People Injured and No Fatalities Last Weekend

From Friday evening through Monday morning, the Idaho State Police released reports on five serious accidents.

  • One crash between a semi-truck and three other vehicles injured three drivers.
  • In another accident, a motorcycle hit a car while trying to pass a line of vehicles.
  • An elderly pedestrian who was walking in one of the lanes of I84 in Meridian was hit by a car.
  • Three people were seriously injured near Bear Lake when a Jeep lost a wheel, which struck their vehicle and caused them to crash into a tree.
  • A commercial semi-truck struck a guardrail in Southern Idaho and ended up blocking lanes of highway travel for more than two hours. No injuries were reported in the crash.

Three People Injured After Crashing Into a Tree When Their Car Was Hit By a Detached Wheel From a Jeep

In a report from the Idaho State Police on Sunday, they recap a serious accident from Saturday evening, around 10:06 PM, in Bear Lake County on SH36 near mile marker 32. From the ISP report:

A silver 2012 Jeep Wrangler driven by a 22-year-old male from Idaho Falls, Idaho, was driving westbound on State Highway 36.

A red 2016 Hyundai Elantra driven by a 21-year-old male from Lovell, Wyoming, was driving eastbound with two passengers, both 22-year-old females from Montpelier, Idaho.

The Jeep lost its front wheel, which impacted the Hyundai.

The Hyundai left the roadway and struck a tree.

The three occupants in the Hyundai were injured and initially taken by ground ambulances for care, then they were taken by air ambulance to a local hospital.

Elderly Pedestrian Struck By Car While Walking Along An Idaho Highway At Night

On Sunday morning, around 2:37 AM, Idaho State Police reported that a man was walking along I-84 in one of the lanes of travel when he was hit by a car. The accident happened in Meridian near mile marker 45.

A 76-year-old male from Boise, Idaho, was walking westbound on I-84 in the far-right lane when he was struck by a 2013 Nissan 370Z, driven by a 19-year-old male from Meridian, Idaho.

The man was taken by ground ambulance in critical condition to a local hospital.

Motorcycle Driver Serious Injured While Attempting To Pass Multiple Vehicles On An Idaho Highway

On Sunday afternoon, an accident between a motorcycle and a pickup truck was reported. According to the ISP, the accident happened around 12:17 PM in Northern Idaho on US95 near mile marker 496.

The driver, a 41-year-old male, of a blue Harley-Davidson motorcycle, was traveling northbound on US95. He was not wearing a helmet.

The motorcyclist attempted to pass multiple vehicles when it collided with a blue Dodge Ram 2500 pickup as the truck was attempting to turn from US95.

The motorcycle rider was seriously injured and taken to an area hospital by Life Flight air ambulance. Idaho State Police are asking for information from any witnesses to the crash who were not interviewed at the scene of the accident.

Eastern Idaho Accident Involving 4 Vehicles Injures Three Drivers

The latest accident reported by the Idaho State Police happened on Monday morning, around 8:37 AM, on Highway 33 in Jefferson County. The accident blocked traffic for around 2 hours, according to the ISP report.

A silver Honda Accord driven by a 27-year-old male out of Terreton was traveling eastbound on Highway 33 at the intersection of N 1300 E when it was rear-ended by a black 2023 Freightliner driven by a 36-year-old male out of Terreton.

A secondary collision started when both vehicles then collided into two westbound vehicles: a silver 2000 Dodge Caravan driven by a 72-year-old-male out of Idaho Falls and a white 2018 Chevrolet Silverado driven by a 44-year-old male out of Pocatello.

The occupants of the Honda, Dodge, and Chevy were taken to a local hospital by ground ambulance.

Each accident is being investigated by the Idaho State Police.
