What Are Idaho State Police Really Doing to Help ICE With Illegal Criminal Alien Deportations
It was announced a few weeks ago that the Idaho State Police would be assisting ICE in the deportation of illegal criminal aliens. That announcement caused a bit of confusion in regards to what it actually means.
Since then, the Governor has announced how the process will be funded and the ISP has cleared up questions about their involvement and who qualifies as an illegal criminal alien.
Idaho State Police Helping Deport Illegal Alien Criminals: What Does That Mean?
The announcement that ISP would be helping transport illegal alien criminals out of Idaho is an endeavor to remove certain illegal alien criminals from Idaho once they have served their sentence.
Criminals here illegally who have been convicted of a crime and are serving time in an Idaho prison could be transported to authorized detention facilities in Jefferson County or out of the state once their sentence is up.

According to an interview from the Idaho State Police with a representative from the Idaho Hispanic Foundation, here’s what ISP is doing (and not doing) to help ICE:
- ISP is not conducting immigration raids.
- Our role is strictly limited to transporting individuals who are in the U.S. illegally and have been convicted of a crime. After they have served their time, they will be taken to a federal detention center.
By transporting these criminals to detention facilities it ensures that they are not released back into Idaho communities with potential for continued offenses. Governor Little has tapped emergency funds up to $300,000 to help the initiative.
How Idaho State Police is Helping ICE With Illegal Criminal Deportations
While the explanation is clear from ISP, people in the comment section of the Facebook post still aren’t convinced or happy that this is happening. Some comments are in full support of the work and others make claims that Idaho State Police are lying.
There was even a post in a Twin Falls group online claiming ISP had a group of immigrant workers rounded up on a street corner asking for their ID so they could deport them. The comment section claims the groups of immigrants were actually being asked for statements regarding an accident they had witnessed.
