
Idaho State Police Report 5 Dead and 12 Injured in Memorial Day Weekend Accidents
The Idaho State Police have reported that seven serious accidents happened over the Memorial Day holiday weekend around the state. Three of the accidents were head-on collisions, one was a rollover, and one resulted in both vehicles involved catching fire.
Five people were killed in the accidents, and twelve people were taken to hospitals with injuries. Details on each accident can be found below.
Idaho State Police Reported 5 Dead and 12 Injured in Memorial Day Weekend Accidents
The three fatal accidents happened in Caldwell on May 25th, Sagle on May 25th, and St. Maries on May 22nd. Two people were killed in the St. Maries accident, two others were killed in the Sagle collision, and one person passed away in the Caldwell crash. The Idaho State Police reported that the St. Maries accident happened on Friday night, at approximately 9:25, near the 9000 block of Railroad Grade Road.

A 52-year-old male from Potlatch, ID, and a 51-year-old female passenger from Potlatch, ID, were driving a 2023 Can-Am Maverick Sport when the vehicle went off the roadway, down an embankment, and into the river.
Neither person was wearing a seatbelt and passed away at the scene of the accident.

The Caldwell crash happened a few minutes after 2:33 on Monday morning near Simplot Blvd and Farmway Road.
A 2001 Kenworth commercial vehicle, driven by a 57-year old male from American Falls, was headed westbound on Simplot Boulevard.
A 2010 Ford Fusion, driven by a middle-aged male from Homedale, headed eastbound, crossed the center line, and went head-on with the Kenworth.
The truck driver was not injured, and the driver of the Ford passed away.
Two Killed in Northern Idaho Head-on Crash on Memorial Day
The third fatal weekend accident happened in Northern Idaho near Sagle. The crash happened at 1:25 in the afternoon on US95 near mile marker 469.
An 18-year-old male from Sandpoint, Idaho, with a 48-year-old male passenger from Sandpoint, was traveling southbound on US95 near milepost 469 in a red 2011 Buick LaCrosse.
A white 2021 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup, driven by a 65-year-old male from Sandpoint, Idaho, was traveling northbound on US95.
The Buick LaCrosse crossed left of center and struck the Dodge Ram head-on.
The two occupants of the Buick were killed in the crash. Two occupants in the truck were taken to the hospital, one by ground ambulance and the other by air ambulance.
Each accident is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
