PowerSchool Breach in Idaho: Was Student and Parent Information Stolen?
Authorities have tried their best to assure parents, students, and faculty that any information stolen has either been deleted or isn’t data that can be used nefariously. Reports from schools that include districts in Twin Falls, Ada County, Caldwell, Jerome, Kuna, Nampa, Kimberly, Hansen, and iSucceed have been sent to families.
According to the reports, information that may have included parent and student contact information (name, birthday, gender, phone number, and address) and possibly medical information was stolen.

In a message from the Twin Falls School District they state ‘Our internal assessment found that for all students and staff, there was an instance where this type of sensitive information was accessed’.
Social security numbers were not part of the incident in most Idaho cases as those are not typically included in PowerSchool information but some districts do hold that info in PowerSchool and TechCrunch says Social Security numbers were accessed in some locations.

A PowerSchool spokesperson told Cyber Security Dive they do not believe the data accessed would be shared or made public.
The data breach isn’t isolated to Idaho. Districts across the United States from California to Massachusetts were also hit by the breach.
