Southern Idaho Traffic Stop Leads to Possible Discovery of a Bomb
The traffic stop, initiated by the Idaho State Police, was due to a 2014 Audi A7 that was caught speeding in Twin Falls in the area of Heyburn Ave and Blue Lakes Blvd on the morning of December 15th.
In the report from the Idaho State Police, we learn the following details about the incident:
The Bomb Squad safely extracted the black tube from the vehicle. After a thorough vehicle search, no additional suspicious items were found.
The initial investigation determined there were suspicious contents inside the tube.
The driver of the Audi, a 23-year-old Twin Falls man, was arrested and booked into the Twin Falls County Jail on probable cause for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Since troopers in the TFPD are not bomb experts, the device and its contents are being examined by the Twin Falls Police Department Bomb Squad. The Bomb squad will determine the nature of the device and charges could be forthcoming.
Idaho State Police announced that residents have a new and easier way to process public records. The new source will be JustFOIA which can be accessed online in the ISP Public Portal.
