UPDATE 3/3/26: The Idaho State Police have issued an update to one of the accidents from over the weekend. The man riding the mobility scooter who was hit by a pickup truck in Preston has passed away. The original story can be found below.

ORIGINAL STORY 3/2/26: The Idaho State Police reported a dangerous weekend of accidents on Idaho highways. They are investigating seven accidents that happened since Friday afternoon and reported two additional secondary accidents that were side effects of the initial accidents.

Among the accidents, there were three fatalities and six people who required hospital care. At least twelve vehicles were damaged in the crashes, and a person on a mobility scooter was also hit by a pickup truck.

12 Vehicles, 15 People, 6 Injured, and 3 Dead in 7 Idaho Weekend Accidents

Based on police reports from the weekend, this was the busiest and most dangerous weekend on Idaho highways so far this year. There were seven serious accidents reported, two secondary crashes, fifteen people in twelve vehicles, six of whom required medical attention, and three of whom passed away due to the crashes.

Details on each accident can be found below, including information on vehicles and people involved as provided by the Idaho State Police.

1 Dead and 1 Injured in 4-Vehicle Accident in Central Idaho

The largest of the weekend accidents happened on Friday evening, around 8:08 PM, on Highway 12 near mile marker 15. Four vehicles were involved in the accident. This report is edited to correct the direction of travel for some of the vehicles.

A 2005 Toyota Tacoma, driven by a male juvenile from Lewiston, was traveling eastbound when it began to pass an eastbound 2005 Ford F150, driven by a 71-year-old male from Orofino. The driver of the Tacoma entered the westbound lane.

A 2015 semi-tractor-trailer driven by a 59-year-old male from Texas was traveling westbound as it approached the Toyota and Ford. To avoid a collision, the Toyota reentered the eastbound lane, striking the Ford.

The driver of the Ford lost control and entered the westbound lane. It struck a westbound 2018 Chevy Silverado driven by a 47-year-old male from Kellogg.

The driver of the Ford passed away at the scene of the accident, and the driver of the Chevy was taken to a local hospital and released with minor injuries. A 48-year-old female passenger in the Chevy was not injured.

The driver of the Toyota was not injured, and the semi truck wasn’t damaged during the accident.

Deadly 2-Vehicle Accident South of Twin Falls: 1 Person Killed, 2 Injured

An accident south of Twin Falls, near the Nevada border, claimed the life of one person while two others were taken to a local hospital for care. The crash happened on February 28th, at 5:07 AM on US93 north of Rogerson.

A 2016 Toyota Tundra, driven by a 34-year-old male from Hailey, was traveling in the northbound lane when the vehicle swerved to the southbound shoulder.

A 2026 Freightliner semi-truck, driven by a 24-year-old-male from North Las Vegas, Nevada, was traveling in the southbound lane with a 44-year-old male passenger, also from North Las Vegas.

The driver of the Freightliner swerved to avoid a collision when the Tundra overcorrected, colliding head-on in the northbound lanes.

The driver of the Tundra passed. Both occupants of the semi were taken to a local hospital by air ambulance.

Fatal Rollover Accident in Filer, Idaho, on the Final Day of February

The third fatal accident over the weekend also happened near Twin Falls, in the city of Filer. Only one vehicle was involved in the accident on northbound 2300 E near 3500 N, around 12:45 AM.

A 2003 Chevrolet Suburban, driven by a 49-year-old male from Twin Falls, was traveling northbound on 2300 E. The vehicle crossed over the center line, driving off the left shoulder.

The vehicle rolled several times before coming to a final stop in a field just west of the roadway.

The driver was not wearing a seatbelt and passed away.

Single Vehicle Box Truck Accident in Meridian, Idaho, Injures One Person

On Friday evening, at approximately 10:41 PM, a single-vehicle accident happened on I84 in Meridian.

A white 2024 HINO Box Truck, driven by a 23-year-old male from West Valley, Utah, with a 44-year-old male from Saint Louis, Missouri, was traveling westbound when the driver failed to maintain lanes and struck the median concrete jersey barrier, causing the truck to overturn.

The passenger was not wearing a seatbelt and was taken to a local hospital. The driver was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.

Pickup Truck in Southern Idaho Hit a Person on a Mobility Scooter

A man was injured in southeast Idaho when his mobility scooter was hit by a pickup truck on S State Street, north of W 1st Street, in Preston. The accident happened on February 28th at 3:44 PM.

A 62-year-old male from Nibley, Utah, was driving a 2003 pickup truck southbound on State Street.

A 67-year-old male from Preston was occupying a crosswalk on State Street on a mobility scooter and was struck by the pickup truck.

The driver of the mobility scooter was taken to a local hospital by ground ambulance.

The final accident reported by the ISP over the weekend happened near Fort Hall, in southeast Idaho, on I15 at mile marker 77. The crash happened on March 1st, a few minutes before 1:30 PM. Two other smaller accidents were reported due to this main crash.

A 2025 Ford F-150, driven by a 74-year-old male from Idaho Falls, ID., was traveling northbound on Interstate 15 near milepost 77 in the left lane when a 2008 Toyota FJ driven by a 39-year-old male from Stevensville, MT., went around the Ford in the right lane. The Toyota attempted to move to the left lane before completely passing the Ford.

The Toyota struck the front of the Ford while reentering the travel lane, causing it to spin and roll. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts and didn’t report any injuries.
