The Idaho Transportation Department has announced a closure of Interstate 84 between Meridian and Nampa on Thursday night into Friday morning. Lanes in both directions will be closed while crews place concrete deck for the flyover ramps.

The new flyover ramps will make the interchange a three level intersection at I-84 to SH-16, the first of its kind in Idaho. There are a few construction projects happening along the interstate near Boise and the new ramps will provide no-stop connections between the two highways.

I-84 in Southern Idaho Will Be Closed Thursday Night and Friday Morning for Bridge Work

Thursday night, October 15th at 10PM, Interstate 84 will be closed in both directions between the Garrity and Ten Mile interchanges (exit 38 to 42). The highway is expected to reopen at 5AM on Friday morning, October 16th.

Traffic will be routed to Franklin Road, so plan on possible delays during the closure.

We do have to give props to the Idaho Transportation Department and construction crews for doing this work over night rather than during the day when there are more cars on the highway and side roads. We truly appreciate that!

The full project is expected, and reportedly on track, to be finished in 2027. You can learn more about the ramp projects on I-84 and SH-16 on the ITD website or by following them for daily updates on social media.
