The Historic Origins of Lagoon Amusement Park

Utah's Lagoon Amusement Park isn't just one of Utah's favorite summer destinations, it's also one of the oldest amusement parks in the entire country. Lagoon's roots go all the way back to 1886 when they first opened as a lakeside resort called Lake Park. Lake Park was found on the shores of the Great Salt Lake. A decade later, the park was relocated to Farmington where it reopened under a new name: Lagoon. Lagoon quickly became a hub for entertainment and family fun. Almost 150 years later, Lagoon features more than 50 rides and attractions, like roller coasters, a water park, historic exhibits, and rides the entire family can ride and enjoy.

Visitors can still ride the famous wooden Roller Coaster, which opened 105 years ago, in 1921. It remains one of the oldest operating wooden coasters in the world. Lagoon has even caught the attention of Hollywood over the years! Several movies and TV productions have used the park's colorful rides and atmosphere as the perfect filming location.
