7 Celebrity Deaths This Year Many Idahoans Are Still Reeling From
With three and a half months still to go in 2026, it's been a tough year for fans of a number of celebrities we've had to say goodbye to forever. Heck, I'm still upset over losing Chris Cornell, and that was in May of 2017.
Death affects people differently, and people mourn in their own way. When it comes to family, the pain is everlasting. The passing of a celebrity can also be a big blow to people who grew up being impacted in a positive way by them.
The most shocking celebrity death in my opinion so far in 2026 has to be actress Catherine O'Hara, who passed away at just 71. O'Hara was a beloved actress who starred in such series as Schitt's Creek, as well as films including Home Alone, Beetlejuice, Best In Show, Waiting For Guffman and many others.
Dolly Parton's death in late August at age 80 from complications of cancer was perhaps the most profound celebrity passing of the year, as far as the number of genres of entertainment it spanned and the global humanitarian impact it had. She was a philanthropist, music star, actress, and spokesperson who was involved in many business ventures, including record and television production.

Other 2026 celebrity deaths that likely impacted the great people of Idaho in some way, shape, or form include Grateful Dead founding guitarist Bob Weir, martial arts icon and actor Chuck Norris, actor Robert Duvall, music executive Clive Davis, and media mogul Ted Turner.
Sadly, there will be more before the year is up; may they all rest in peace.
