Thanksgiving is here, and for many, it is a wonderful day spent with family, and friends, watching football, eating food, and napping. For others, it is a tough day dealing with awkward moments, uncomfortable conversations, and annoying family members. For a select few, it will be an exciting weekend introducing their new boyfriend or girlfriend to their family for the first time, which can be a big deal. It can make for a nervous weekend, but it can also make for the beginning of many holidays together. When having that first holiday with a new partner, there is one important thing to know this holiday season.

Introducing a new partner to extended family members can be good, but typically it is an awkward situation. Questions are asked that you aren't ready for, stories are shared that you wish your family forgot, and you learn more about each other than you anticipate. One of the most awkward parts of this entire ordeal though is when it comes to taking photos. Taking photos isn't uncomfortable, although it is an annoying part of the holidays. However, what is bothersome is when you look back on them years later, and see someone no longer in your life because the relationship didn't last. What may look like a great family picture is ruined because someone who never became a part of the family is in the photo. There is a great way to handle this situation and to salvage these photos.

Great Thanksgiving Advice

The hope is that when you bring a date to a holiday is that it will be the first of many and that the next year it won't be a date but a new member of the family. That doesn't always happen, and the memories can hurt when looking at holiday pictures years later. A friend recently told me some good advice on handling a date on a holiday. When it comes to taking family photos, make sure to have them stand on the very end, making it easier to crop them out online, or make a smooth cut off taking them out of a physical photo.

It may sound ridiculous or simple, but this is great advice and a way to enjoy family photos from this year's holidays for years, even if the date you bring isn't in your life this time next year. Make sure to take the edge spot and have them on the outside, and pictures will be salvaged like they were never there.
