Deadly Motorcycle Accident on Idaho Highway Over the Weekend
Fatal Crash on Coeur d’Alene River Road Leaves One Dead

A two-vehicle crash on Coeur d’Alene River Road in Shoshone County resulted in the death of a motorcyclist, Idaho State Police (ISP) reported.
Crash Details
On the evening of September 21st, at approximately 5:56 pm, ISP and the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office responded to a collision near milepost 19 on Coeur d’Alene River Road, north of Kellogg, Idaho.
A 50-year-old man from Coeur d’Alene, driving a gray 2016 Victory Magnum motorcycle, was traveling southbound when his bike collided with a red 1999 Yamaha XV1600 heading northbound. The Yamaha was driven by a 34-year-old Coeur d'Alene man, who had a minor passenger.
Fatality and Injuries
The rider of the Victory Magnum was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin. The driver of the Yamaha was airlifted to a local hospital for treatment, while the minor passenger was taken by ground ambulance. Both are reported to have survived the crash.
Road Closure and Investigation
Authorities closed Coeur d'Alene River Road for about three hours to process the scene. All individuals involved were wearing helmets at the time of the crash, and both alcohol and speed are believed to have played a role in the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
The Idaho State Police continues to investigate this fatal accident.
Four-Vehicle Crash in Post Falls Injures Several
A four-vehicle collision in Post Falls resulted in injuries but no fatalities, Idaho State Police (ISP) confirmed.
Crash Overview
At around 8:00 a.m. on September 19th, 2024, Idaho State Police responded to the scene of a four-vehicle injury crash at the intersection of 14th Ave and Spokane St. The crash occurred when a 22-year-old woman from Stafford, Texas, driving a 2023 Tesla Model 3, failed to stop at a stop sign while traveling westbound on 14th Ave.
Chain of Collisions
As the Tesla crossed Spokane St., it was struck by a southbound 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by a 29-year-old woman from Spirit Lake, Idaho. The impact caused the Tesla to continue forward, striking two additional vehicles: a Chevy Silverado and a Chevy Tahoe parked in a driveway on West 14th Ave. The Tesla came to rest partially on top of the Tahoe, and nearby residential property was also damaged.
Injuries and Response
The Tesla had two passengers, a 50-year-old woman from Spokane Valley, Washington, and a juvenile. The driver and the juvenile were properly restrained, but the female passenger was not wearing a seatbelt. All three were transported to a local hospital by ground ambulance for treatment.
The Jeep had two juvenile passengers, and all occupants, including the driver, were wearing seatbelts and child restraints. They were also transported to a local hospital for evaluation.
Road Closure and Investigation
The roadways remained closed for approximately 3.5 hours while emergency responders cleared the scene. The Idaho State Police is leading the ongoing investigation into the crash.
