Over the last decade or so, Halloween turned from a one-night-only event to a celebration that spans weeks, if not the entire month. The nice thing is that no matter what schedule you work, you'll find an event that gives you and your kiddos plenty of chances to score candy and have some family fun.

I found several family-friendly Halloween events happening around Twin Falls before October 31, including trunk-or-treats, harvest festivals, and opportunities to collect candy from downtown businesses.

Here's a look at some of the events coming up in Twin Falls this year.

Amazing Grace Fellowship is bringing back its popular Treat Street event on Halloween. The church is planning more than 30 decorated trunks and over 40,000 pieces of candy and non-edible goodies. There will also be carnival games, cool cars, hot cocoa, and cider.

The event is free and open to the community.

Trick or Treat Main Street in Downtown Twin Falls

Time: 2 to 4 p.m.

Location: Main Avenue, Downtown Twin Falls

The annual Trick or Treat Main Street event returns on Halloween. Families can bring their costumed kids downtown to collect candy from participating businesses.

Twin Falls Public Safety Trunk or Treat

Location: 321 2nd Avenue E., Twin Falls

The Twin Falls Police Department and Twin Falls Fire Department are inviting families to celebrate Halloween at the third annual Public Safety Trunk or Treat.

The event provides another opportunity for kids to show off their costumes and collect treats before heading into their neighborhoods for Halloween night.

Halloween Night in Twin Falls, Idaho

Halloween is on a Saturday this year, so the annual debate of whether or not we should move the holiday from a weeknight to the weekend shouldn't be an issue. Expect plenty of families to be out trick-or-treating after dark. Watch for children crossing streets, especially between parked cars.

For parents, consider adding reflective tape or glow sticks to costumes, carrying a flashlight, and making sure younger children have an adult with them. Twin Falls doesn't have one citywide trick-or-treating schedule, so families can generally decide when to head out.
