One of the perks of living in Idaho is how close we live to multiple national parks. Many people have to plan months ahead of time for a place they may only see once in a lifetime. Some larger parks can take in more visitors than others. In order to make the visit good for visitors and protect the grounds and wildlife, some parks have opted for a reservation system to be implemented.

Which Parks Near Idaho Will Require Reservations in 2024?

8 national parks will require reservations in 2024. Good news for fans of Yellowstone National Park, reservations are not required to enter the park but are required for lodge rooms and campsites. These 5 parks near Idaho also require reservations for either certain features in the park or for entrance.

Arches National Park in Utah offers tickets on a first-served basis. They are available to book 3 months in advance. Reservations are required from April through October. But if you enter the park before 7 AM or after 4 PM you don’t have to have a timed entry ticket.

Glacier National Park in Montana has some of the most amazing scenic drives anywhere in North America. Certain areas require vehicle reservations from May 24th through September 8th. If you want to skirt the rules, just enter the park before 6 AM or after 3 PM and you won’t have to pay that part, but you still need a park pass of $20 per person or $35 per vehicle.

Rocky Mountain Park in Colorado will require a timed reservation for entry into either the Bear Lake Corridor or the rest of the park for anyone wanting to enter from 5 AM to 6 PM beginning May 24th through October 20th.

Yosemite National Park in California has a patchwork of reservation requirements. Weekends in February require reservations for 24 hours per day. There are reservations required from 5 AM to 4 PM on certain select dates from April 13th through October 27th, then April 13th - June 30th are weekends and holidays, daily from July 1st - August 16th, and weekends and holidays from August 17th - October 27th. Wait, what? Yeah, you may want to reread that one.

Zion National Park in Utah has a permit policy for Angels Landing. There is a lottery process currently underway for visitors wishing to hike the trail from March 1st - May 31st. Then in February, Day-Before lotteries will be available. Seasonal lotteries for later hike dates will be held in April, July, and October.
