‘Knight Rider’ Goes ‘Fast and Furious’ With Justin Lin Digital Series
We’ve already had one Knight Rider reboot stall out (it was a Transformer voiced by Val Kilmer, guys), but is KITT making another comeback? Looks like NBC might be getting a little Fast & Furious with a new digital series produced by Justin Lin, bringing Knight Rider back to the road.
Machinima will helm the new Knight Rider series under a partnership with NBCUniversal Brand Development, YOMYOMF and Justin Lin, with an eye to debut sometime in 2017. Previously, Machinima was responsible for such similar digital sereis as Halo’s Forward Unto Dawn, Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter.
Says Machinima:
Knight Rider is an iconic franchise whose concepts of AI and autonomous vehicles were science fiction in the 1980s and are now science fact. Justin is one of the leading storytellers of his generation and we couldn’t be more excited to work with him on re-invigorating Knight Rider for a new generation of fans.
No doubt NBC would take another stab at Knight Rider if the digital series developed enough interest, but would they fare any better this time around?
