Potato Recall Has Been Upgraded in States Around Idaho to the Most Dangerous Level by the FDA
A food recall that was initiated in December has been elevated to the highest level of risk by the FDA.
The recall comes from the Frito-Lay company and applies to a specific batch and a limited number of Lay’s potato chips.
FDA Gives Recall the Highest Level of Danger in Oregon, and Washington
The Frito-Lay company issued the original recall voluntarily on December 16th, 2024, due to there being 'undeclared milk' in the product. The Class 1 recall is specific to 6,344 of 13 oz bags of Lay’s Classic Potato Chips. The recall states:
Those with an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the recalled product.
The chip recall only applies to bags distributed by Oregon and Washington distributors but also available in e-commerce. So, even if you don’t live in Oregon or Washington or never visited those states (or did over the holiday season) you should check your Lay’s bags to see if they are part of the recall.

To see if you purchased the recalled chips look for the following information on the bags.
13 oz. (368.5 grams) Lay’s Classic Potato Chips with UPC 28400 31041. Bags must also have a fresh by date of 11 Feb 2025 and one of these manufacturing codes: 6462307xx or 6463307xx
Recall information on the FDA website states the following for those who purchased the affected chips: Contact Frito-Lay Consumer Relations at 1-800-352-4477 (9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. CST, Monday-Friday).
