
Officer Involved Traffic Accident in Northern Idaho Sparks Investigation
The Idaho State Police are looking for assistance from the public regarding a vehicle crash they are investigating. The accident involved a trooper and a civilian vehicle in Northern Idaho over the weekend.
The trooper and the civilian driver were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries from the crash.
Idaho State Police Report 2 Injured in Officer Involved Vehicle Accident
ISP reported that the crash happened on Sunday morning, April 26th, around 1:15 AM at the intersection of D Street and 5th Street in Lewiston. Both vehicles were traveling in the same direction, westbound on D Street near the Lewiston City Library. The road takes a slight turn south at the intersection and could be a factor in the crash.
According to the Idaho State Police report on the incident, the crash blocked traffic in the area for around 6 hours. Also from the ISP report:
A Lewiston Police Department patrol vehicle, a black 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by a 30-year-old female officer from Lewiston, was traveling westbound on D Street.
A black 2009 Cadillac Escalade, driven by 29-year-old Tristyn Weeks of Lewiston, was also traveling westbound behind the patrol vehicle.
While passing, the driver of the Cadillac Escalade struck the driver’s side of the patrol vehicle.
Investigators are looking for information from the public who may have seen the accident, had contact with Weeks, or saw the Cadillac before the accident. Witnesses or residents with information should contact the Idaho State Police, referencing case number 2026-00051803.

Detectives from the Boise Police Department are investigating a shooting that happened in Downtown Boise on April 22nd. The initial response to the call found a man with non-life-threatening injuries, and an arrest has been made.
Police are looking for information from the public to assist with the investigation. Police believe there are at least two witnesses who may have recorded the shooting. Nearby surveillance footage was also gathered.
