
Public Health District in Idaho Warns of Measles Outbreak Ahead of Spring Break
There’s good news and there’s bad news about the recent rise in Measles cases in the United States.
The good news: the outbreak hasn’t reached Idaho yet.
The bad news: millions of people are preparing to travel for Spring Break which will increase the chances of spreading the deadly disease.
Traveling For Spring Break? Idaho Officials Warn of Measles Outbreak in Washington
In a message from the South Central Public Health District in Idaho, they warn those preparing to travel for Spring Break to make sure they are current on their immunizations and to check for an outbreak at their travel destination.
There is currently a Measles outbreak in 14 states including cases in an Idaho neighbor, Washington.
There have been 301 confirmed cases in the US this year and 50 of them required hospitalization. 1 death has been confirmed as being caused by measles in 2025 and another is under investigation.

How is the 2025 Measles Outbreak Affecting Idaho, Washington, and Utah?
While there are no cases in Idaho yet this year, the travel that will happen during Spring Break could change that. If you plan on traveling, these are the 14 states that have confirmed cases of the virus-spread disease:
- Alaska
- California
- Florida
- Georgia
- Kentucky
- Maryland
- New Jersey
- New Mexico
- New York
- Pennsylvania
- Rhode Island
- Texas
- Vermont
- Washington
Three of the states are considered ‘outbreak’ states as they have ‘3 or more confirmed cases reported in 2025’.

There were 16 outbreaks reported in 2024
