
Mother’s Day Weekend Accident in Idaho Leaves 1 Dead and 1 in the Hospital
A rural street intersection in Southern Idaho was the scene of a deadly car accident over Mother’s Day weekend.
Authorities have reported that failure to yield to a stop sign at the intersection was the cause of the crash.
Failure to Yield: Truck Driver Killed in Crash on Southern Idaho Road
Idaho State Police are investigating the crash, which happened on Saturday afternoon at the intersection of N 400 E and E 900 N in Minidoka County north of Burley and Rupert.
The ISP report shares the following information about the circumstances of the crash:
- A 74-year-old male from Paul was driving eastbound on E 900 N in a 2014 Ram 1500 pickup.
- He failed to yield to the stop sign at N 400 E and proceeded through the intersection.
- The Ram was struck by a 2011 Dodge Caliber, driving southbound on N 400 E, driven by a 51-year-old male from Rupert.
The truck ended up on its side in a ditch, and the Caliber ended up on the shoulder of the road.

The driver of the Ram truck was not wearing a seatbelt and passed away later a the hospital after being transported by air ambulance.
The driver of the Caliber was wearing a seatbelt and was taken by ambulance to a local hospital.

An Idaho State Trooper was also involved in a vehicle accident over the weekend. The trooper was involved in a high-speed pursuit when his vehicle struck a civilian vehicle.
