2 Motorcycle Fatality Accidents in Southern Idaho Monday Afternoon
On Monday, April 10th, the Idaho State Police reported two separate accidents involving motorcycles which resulted in fatalities.
The first accident happened near Buhl at 1403 E and 4300 N at 12:57 PM. The police report states:
A 21-year-old male, of Buhl, was driving a 2016 Harley Davidson FXDF Motorcycle southbound on 1400 E when he drove off the east side of the roadway. He was ejected from the motorcycle and succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Idaho State Police were assisted at the scene by Buhl QRU, Buhl Fire Department, Magic Valley Paramedics, and Twin Falls County Sheriff's Office.
The second accident being investigated by the Idaho State Police happened at 3:18 PM at the 211 on-ramp for Interstate 84 in Minidoka County. According to the police report:
A 55-year-old male, of Declo, was driving a 2012 Harley Davidson FLHX Motorcycle eastbound I-84 on the on-ramp when he failed to negotiate the curve. The vehicle continued off the left shoulder and struck an embankment and a fence. The driver was ejected from the motorcycle and succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The rider was not wearing a helmet.
Idaho State Police were assisted at the scene by Minidoka Sheriff's Office and Heyburn Police Department.
Both accidents are under investigation by Idaho State Police.
History Of Motorcycle Accidents In Idaho
Motorcycle accidents in Idaho are much more likely to result in injury or death than other vehicle accidents. The Idaho Transportation Department reports that 88 percent of motorcycle crashes result in injury. The majority of these accidents involve adult males over the age of 40.
