Authorities in western Idaho reported a missing swimmer in Payette Lake on Monday evening. Rescue teams searched the area until it became too dark and visibility was limited.

On Tuesday morning, it was announced that they had resumed searching and had recovered the body of the missing swimmer.

Drowning Victim’s Body Recovered From Idaho Lake by Authorities

The report was sent out on social media by the Valley County Sheriff’s Office on the morning of Tuesday, July 28th. They stated that around 8:43 PM, the night before, their dispatch center received a call that a group had been swimming on the east side of the lake at an area called ‘The Cliffs’. One of the people in the group jumped from a large rock on the cliff into the lake and didn’t resurface.

A few minutes before 1:30 PM on Tuesday, July 28th, the Valley County Sheriff’s Office updated the post, stating that they had recovered the body of the missing swimmer and were working with the coroner to notify the next of kin.

While the authorities work to investigate the incident, they do not expect to release any additional information.

Payette Lake is located along the northern border of the city of McCall in western central Idaho.
