1 Killed in Accident Near Twin Falls Saturday Night After Semi Hits a Pedestrian
Saturday evening a man was struck and killed by a semi-truck on the highway near Twin Falls, Idaho.
Semi Strikes and Kills Man Saturday Evening Near Twin Falls
Saturday night I84 was closed for around 5 and a half hours as Idaho State Police and other emergency responders were on the scene of a fatality accident near westbound exit 182. The ISP report states:
Idaho State Police is investigating a semi-truck versus pedestrian crash that occurred Saturday, September 23, 2023, at 7:30 p.m. on Interstate 84 at milepost 183 in Jerome County.
A 75-year-old male from Anaheim, CA, was driving a 2021 Freightliner semi-truck westbound on Interstate 84 when he drove into a closed lane of travel in the construction zone. The semi-truck drove through multiple traffic control devices before striking a 22-year-old pedestrian from Filer. The semi-truck continued westbound striking a 2022 Ford Ranger where it came to rest.
The pedestrian succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The driver of the semi-truck was wearing a seat belt.
The accident is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
The last 4 accidents, 3 of which have been fatality accidents, reported on the Idaho State Police blog have involved semi-trucks. There were also semi-truck-involved fatality accidents on Thursday the 21st and Monday the 18th. A non-fatality accident involving a semi happened on Tuesday the 19th near Meridian.
