I love Christmas! This is when I get to wear my extremely ugly sweaters to parties! This is also one of the few times each year that my family (there are nine of us spread across the country) makes plans to get together and drink a lot of egg nog. Usually we rent a cabin in the mountains in Utah, so we are guaranteed a good amount of snow. This year the cabin was too expensive so we decided to invite everybody to Twin Falls to celebrate Christmas.

I know it is going to be crazy! I am also looking forward to the craziness. And it won't be nearly as crazy as some of these "traditions" from around the world.

The main tradition that we have as a family each Christmas Eve is a really big dinner. What makes it special is that we eat at midnight and all the food is Mexican food - we call it our Christmas Cena. Cena is Spanish for dinner and most of my family has lived in Spanish speaking countries.

After we eat we all sit by the tree and grandma gives a gift to everybody. The gift is usually something small like a game or toy from the dollar store - but it is fun. When it was just us kids she would give bigger presents like home made matching pajamas, blankets, or something else she had made for us.

My family is great - and I know Christmas is going to be awesome and loud this year :)

I hope you have fun family traditions and that you have a Merry Christmas. You can share your Christmas traditions below and maybe give the rest of us some fun new ideas.
