Dodgeball is an activity most of us grew up playing during gym class in junior high or high school. The game has grown incredibly popular among adults in recent years, and some of these leagues compete using glow-in-the-dark vests and balls.

I played dodgeball like crazy growing up. I started playing when I was in sixth grade or so. Our physical education teacher would basically walk out wearing tight shorts and a whistle and set two giant red balls down on parallel courts and let us go at it. There are youth and adult leagues all across Idaho. From Boise to Idaho Falls, Nampa to Lewiston, and even in the Magic Valley.

Boise State University offers both classic and glow-in-the-dark dodgeball. The university has three hours set aside this Friday (February 4) in the Kinesiology Lab on Bronco Lane for glow-in-the-dark dodgeball. From 7 P.M. to 10 P.M. the public is invited to play, but you must sign up first. Players can bring masks if they please for Covid-19 safety.

The Internet is full of videos of people playing in various leagues across the country. Some of these leagues even have referees. I've never tried lights out dodgeball, but it looks awesome.

It's worth reaching out to your local league hosts to see if glow-in-the-dark dodgeball is offered. Tennis shoes are a must for those wanting to join a league or tournament. With some practice, you might end up as good as White Goodman.
