TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX)-The head of the St. Luke's Health System in Idaho is retiring at the beginning of next year.

St. Luke's announced the retirement date of Dr. David Pate will be the end of January 2020 and said Wednesday that Chris Roth will take over as CEO. Roth is the current senior vice president and chief operating officer for St. Luke's and will transition to the new job during the next three months.

Dr. Pate has worked for St. Luke's for 10 years since August of 2009. The St. Luke's Health System Board of Directors looked at several option to replace Dr. Pate and chose Roth who joined St. Luke's in early 2007. Roth has worked for the Northwest Hospital & Medical Center in Seattle and Ochsner Health System in New Orleans. St. Luke's Health System claims to be the largest private employer in the state of Idaho.
