Teenager Killed in 6 Vehicle Accident in Southern Idaho Thursday

Idaho State Police responded to a tragic fatality accident Thursday morning in Southern Idaho.

REPORT: 6 Vehicle Fatality Accident in Southern Idaho Thursday Morning

According to the current police report, the 6-vehicle crash happened Thursday morning just before 7 in Idaho Falls at the Yellowstone Highway and West 49th South intersection:

A 2013 Ford Taurus, driven by a 18 year old female, from Basalt, entered the intersection and was struck by a westbound 2000 Kenworth semi-truck with two trailers, driven by a 27 year old male, from Blackfoot.

Both vehicles crossed into the eastbound lanes striking the following vehicles:

• A 2013 Ford F150 pickup, driven by a 38-year-old male, from Idaho Falls,
• A 2012 Hyundai Genesis, driven by a 22-year-old male, from Shelley,
• A 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by a 38-year-old female, from Shelley,
• A 2017 Ram Pickup, driven by a 62-year-old male, from Shelley.

The driver of the Taurus was taken to a local hospital and succumbed to her injuries.

All the drivers involved in the accident were wearing seat belts and the accident remains under investigation by the Idaho State Police.

ISP was also on the scene of a fatality accident Thursday morning around 6 near Coeur d'Alene:

The crash occurred on State Highway 41 near milepost 20, just north of Spirit Lake. A 39-year-old male, from Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, was driving a white 2016 Ford 150 pickup, northbound on State Highway 41, when he left the roadway and entered the northbound ditch, the vehicle then came back onto the roadway, went left of center, and entered the southbound lane. A 48-year-old man, from Chewelah, Washington, driving a 1987 Kenworth Log truck, was traveling southbound on State Highway 41. The Ford F150 struck the Kenworth Log truck head-on. The driver of the F150 was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. The driver of the F150 was pronounced dead on-scene. The driver of the Kenworth did not sustain injuries.

The accident blocked traffic on State Highway 41 for about 4 hours and is under investigation by Idaho State Police.
