Predicting the weather is like playing the lottery, those who participate make a guess and hope it’s right. It’s so unpredictable that we let a groundhog make a six week forecast every year, even though he’s almost always wrong.

I don’t think we care about the forecast. We talk about it, but really when it comes down to it, we look out our window and that determines what we wear and what we do that day. That being said, there are some things in the forecast that we can expect over the next few days.

3 Weather Events We Can Expect in Idaho Over the Next Week

You might not like everything coming our way with the weather, but nature doesn’t care what you want. One thing that is already happening and is expected to last until Monday morning is the air stagnation advisory. With little to no wind, the air is just hanging around and getting more polluted each day. Don’t spend too much time outdoors if you have respiratory issues.

Two other things we can expect are good things: warmer nights and a possibility of some much needed rain over the weekend.

Looking at the forecasts in Southern Idaho, temperatures stay above freezing overnight through the weekend. Then Sunday night into Monday we have a chance of precipitation. Since the overnight temperature is predicted at almost 40 degrees, it’s safe to say that the precipitation will be rain and not snow.

Whatever form it comes in will be welcome and needed though. Idaho has had a relatively dry winter so far and it has many worried about water and irrigation reserves for the upcoming year.

I don’t know if we are in Fools Spring right now, but I really hope we get a few more days of good snow before it’s too late.
