
Traffic Stop in Idaho Leads to Arrest of Man With Serious Charges
Troopers with the Idaho State Police have arrested a man wanted for a variety of scary charges, including attempted murder and domestic battery inflicting traumatic injury.
The troopers were able to catch the man as he had a woman in his car with which he was not supposed to have contact.
The incident began in Idaho Falls with the Soda Springs Police Department contacting the ISP a few minutes before noon on April 8th, 2025. ISP located the suspect near Ammon Road and Lincoln Road and attempted to make a traffic stop. The suspect ‘instructed a female passenger to exit the car’ as the traffic stop was being initiated.
Police verified that the suspect, a 29-year-old male, was Samuel Zane Erickson. They performed a field sobriety test and arrested Erickson for DUI. Continued investigation also verified that the woman who had been in his vehicle was a party in the No Contact Order against him. She was located nearby wearing no shoes by an officer.

Additionally, the ISP report states the following about other charges Erickson is facing:
it was confirmed that Erickson had an active bench warrant out of Caribou County for violations of conditions for his release from jail. His original charges included Attempted Murder, Attempted Strangulation, and Domestic Battery inflicting Traumatic Injury.
He was arrested for the DUI, violation of the no contact order, and the existing warrant.
