Two Dead in Accidents on Idaho Highways and One Juvenile Injured
Idaho State Police have reported 3 serious accidents this week with 2 of them ending in fatalities. As we inch closer to Labor Day, the 100 Deadliest Days in Idaho continue and these tragic accidents serve as reminders of the need for extra safety and care by drivers on Idaho roads.
One Man Dead After Headon Crash With Semi Truck In Idaho
This morning, August 23rd, Idaho State Police responded to a fatality accident involving a semi-truck and a pickup truck. The accident happened north of Parma around 8:40 on US-95:
A 2015 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by a 76-year-old male, of Parma, was traveling northbound. A 2021 Freightliner tractor-trailer, driven by a 32-year-old male, of Los Angeles, California, was traveling southbound. The Silverado and Freightliner collided head-on. The driver of the Silverado succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The lanes of travel were blocked for 4 hours.
An Idaho Truck Accident Caused a Fire and One Fatality Tuesday
Police also responded to a single-vehicle accident on SH-21 in Boise County Tuesday afternoon just before 4 PM:
A 2010 Chevrolet Silverado towing a camp trailer and an ATV trailer was traveling northbound on SH21. The driver drove off the right shoulder and struck a tree. The vehicle, trailer, and ATV caught fire.
The vehicle was occupied by a 77-year-old male driver and a 77-year-old female passenger, both from Nampa. The male was rescued from the vehicle and succumbed to his injures on scene. The female was transported by air ambulance to a local hospital. Both occupants were wearing their seatbelts.
The road was closed in both directions for 4 hours.
Milk Tanker Accident in Butte County Injures a Juvenile Driver
A juvenile was involved in an accident Monday afternoon in Arco on US 20-26 involving a tractor-trailer pulling a milk tanker:
A 27-year-old male from Idaho Falls, was driving a Volvo Tractor-trailer pulling a milk tanker, northbound on Grand Ave. when he came to a stop at the intersection with US 20-26.
When the semi-truck proceeded to turn eastbound on US 20-26, it was struck by a 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe being driven eastbound by a juvenile.
The juvenile was transported via air ambulance to a local hospital.
The roadway was blocked for approximately five-and-a-half hours in both directions to allow emergency personnel to clear the scene.
All accidents are being investigated by Idaho State Police.
