
Utah Driver Killed in Idaho Highway Accident with a Semi Truck
The Idaho State Police have recently reported two fatal accidents on Idaho highways. An elderly driver was killed in a crash in Northern Idaho, and a young driver from Utah was killed in an accident in Southern Idaho.
Each accident is detailed below and is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
Utah Driver in a Van Killed in Idaho Accident with Semi Truck
An accident on August 20th between a van and a semi-truck is being investigated by ISP. The accident occurred at 4:45 PM on westbound Interstate 84 at mile marker 150.8, near Wendell. The ISP news release states:
- A 2001 Dodge van, driven by a 25-year-old male from Salt Lake City, Utah, and a 2020 Freightliner semi with a 2018 Utility trailer, driven by a 64-year-old male from Mount Judea, Arkansas, were both traveling westbound on I84.
- The Dodge rear-ended the semi trailer.
The driver of the van passed away at the scene of the crash. The driver of the semi-truck was not injured.

The Idaho State Police have also reported a fatal accident that happened on August 23rd around 1:19 PM. The Bonner County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the accident on US95 near mile marker 467. From the initial investigation, ISP determined the following happened:
- A Toyota FJ Cruiser, driven by a 62-year-old male from Oro Valley, Arizona, was traveling northbound on US 95.
- A Chevrolet Silverado with a trailer in tow, driven by a 54-year-old male out of Spirit Lake, Idaho, was traveling southbound on US 95.
- The FJ Cruiser drove left of center and struck the Silverado.
The Silverado and trailer went off the southbound shoulder, and the Toyota went off the northbound shoulder.
The driver of the Toyota was taken to a local hospital by ground ambulance, where he passed away.
The driver of the Chevrolet ‘declined to be transported’.
