Happy official first day of summer - the longest day of the year! That means more time for your kids to go crazy and for the stupid criminals to make the some silly news...check out today's knucklehead in the news and see how to keep your kids sharp during the summer so they don't become tomorrow's knucklehead!

KNUCKLEHEADS IN THE NEWS

If your spouse is arrested for domestic violence on your honeymoon, there’s a pretty good chance your marriage won’t make it for the long term.

WOMEN ARE BETTER INVESTORS

According to a new study, women are better investors than men.

Researchers found that women are more likely to make money in the market, mostly because they don't take as many risks.

They tend to buy and hold and they trade this way because they aren't as confident -- or perhaps as overconfident -- as men.

They are also more likely than men to have a greater desire for self-control, which allows them to trade less and earn more.

REALLY DUMB WAYS TO WASTE MONEY

Many Americans are pinching pennies to get by.  But, there are still plenty of Americans spending money in incredibly dumb ways:

  • The Lottery -- More than anything, it's a tax on people who are really bad at math.
  • Tanning Booths -- Congratulations! You get to spend money increasing your risk of skin cancer. It's like you're stupid twice.
  • Cigarettes -- A pack of smokes in New York City can run you almost 12 bucks. That's an expensive way to get lung cancer.
  • $5 cups of coffee -- If you stay home, you can brew an entire pot of coffee for about 16 cents.
  • Designer Clothes for Babies -- The reason you don't buy a baby a $75 shirt is the same reason you don't but one for a college kid. They don't care either way, and will likely throw up on it.
  • The Gym -- Here's a money saving tip: if you're chubby, go jog. It's free.

THE MOST ANNOYING SOUND IN THE WORLD:  WHINING

According to a new study, whining is the worst sound in the world.

Researchers from the State University of New York found that the sound of a child whining has more power to distract people than anything. It's more annoying than a baby crying, people talking, silence or even a high-pitched table saw.

GOOD WAYS TO KEEP YOUR KIDS SHARP THIS SUMMER

Just because its summer doesn't mean your kids should shut down their brains and stop learning. In fact, many parents use the summertime to help their kids gain an advantage on their peers by challenging them with classes, tutoring and brain games.

According to a new study, intellectually challenging tasks -- like brain games -- can actually boost kids' IQ scores.

Unfortunately, not every kid gets results from these activities. The researchers found that only the children who actually enjoy the exercises get the benefit of higher IQ scores.

If a child is "forced" to do drills that they don't find fun, they will end up just getting frustrated and not enjoy any long term benefits.

COOLEST THING YOU’LL SEE ALL DAY

A cow turns into an escape artist in Ireland.  This is a pretty clever cow.
