Abbreviated Texting Is Good for Your Spelling
Just when I could have sworn that texting is ruining our ability to read and write correctly - survey says "Wrong!" Texting - especially bad texting, is better for your spelling skills.A study out of England reveals that when your kid sends text messages and uses mangled English abbreviations like g-r-8 for "great" and that kids who use text abbreviations are actually BETTER at real spelling . . . because they have to analyze words so they can figure out how to shorten them.
